Primary 5/6
Term 1
Anti Sectarian Assembly with St James
We have been very busy over the last few weeks as we have been practising for our joint assembly with St James Primary school on anti sectarianism. We had a fantastic day on Thursday 1st October when PACE came out to visit our class along with primary 5 b from St James. The story was about the rivalry between two football teams and the focus was on anti sectarianism. It was a fabulous day and we practised all morning then we performed our show in the afternoon to two classes from St James and three classes from Kirklandneuk. So with meeting new friends, learning our words and new songs it really is an exciting time for us.
Primary 5/6 have had a great start to the new term. We have been getting to know each as some of us were in different classes last year.
Topic
Our topic this term is France and we are really enjoying this. We have been learning where France is situated on the map and which countries border it. We are also researching some of the famous buildings, rivers, towns and cities. We have also been e mailing a French school and we are finding out about their school life and we have been telling them about ours.

The primary 5 pupils are learning French this year which is new for them, they are really enjoying this. The primary 6 pupils will carry on learning French.
In R.E we are learning interesting information about Notable Christians and we are researching Eric Liddell, William Quarrier and Mary Slessor.
The eight primary 6 pupils have been going swimming on a Wednesday afternoon with the rest of the primary 6 pupils. We are loving this and it is great fun whilst building on our swimming skills!

Your assembly and performance with PACE really helped to educate the other children about the importance of getting to know people as individuals and respecting their differences, rather than hating people who have different faiths or support another team. You have also put this into action by working so well with the children from St James. I'm glad you got to work with them again through the Bridges to Schools project.
